The short answer
Private and production command centers combine slide-out rooms, antenna and mast arrays, generators, and workstation interiors on a coach or trailer platform. Slide-out seal and mechanism issues, roof penetration leaks, mast mounting fatigue, and power system faults define the work. We repair structure, systems, and interiors.

What we see on mobile command centers
A private sector command center, whether it belongs to a production company, a utility contractor, or a corporate response team, is usually built on a coach or a large trailer platform rather than a truck chassis, and that brings slide-out rooms into the picture. Slides are the single most complicated mechanical system on the vehicle and they are also the biggest hole in the envelope. A slide that has taken a compression set in its seals, or whose mechanism has drifted out of adjustment, will close and latch normally and still let water in during the first real storm, straight onto the workstation area it exists to create.
The roof carries the rest of the risk. Mast mounting, antenna arrays, satellite equipment, air conditioning, and vents all penetrate a roof that flexes over the vehicle length, and Southern California heat cycling hardens the sealant at every one of them through summer. Then December arrives. On a vehicle whose interior value is largely electronics, that is an equipment loss rather than a stain. We inspect and re-bed every roof penetration on any command vehicle that comes in, because it is far cheaper as a maintenance item than as a claim.
The mast mounting itself deserves structural attention. A telescoping mast extended in wind applies a real moment to its mounting, and the deployments that matter are exactly the ones happening in bad conditions. We reinforce mast and antenna mounting with proper backing and load distribution and re-bed the penetration to a system that tolerates thermal cycling. Body labor is $210 per hour, electrical is $260 per hour, diagnostics is $285 per hour, and all of it is performed at our Yorba Linda facility.

What actually fails, and why
Slide-out seal compression set
Heat and time take the memory out of bulb and wiper seals. The slide closes and latches normally and no longer compresses the seal, so the first hard rain puts water into the workstation area rather than being kept out by a latch.
Slide mechanism drift and racking
Mechanisms drift out of adjustment and the slide no longer travels square. It binds at one corner, wears its seals unevenly, and eventually loads the opening frame, which turns an adjustment issue into a structural one.
Roof penetration seal failure
Sealant at mast, antenna, air conditioning, and vent penetrations hardens through inland summer heat cycling and separates at the substrate edge. Water enters and lands on electronics, which is an equipment loss rather than a ceiling stain.
Mast and antenna mount fatigue
An extended mast in wind applies a moment to its mounting, and the deployments that matter happen in exactly those conditions. Fasteners elongate, the base seal opens, and the structural and sealing failures arrive together.
Generator mounting and power system faults
A vibrating generator loads its mounting continuously while the electrical system runs climate, lighting, and electronics together. Connections oxidize, isolators fail, and voltage instability presents as equipment problems rather than as an electrical finding.
Awning arm damage in wind
Awnings deployed at a location during a Santa Ana event bend arms and tear fabric. A bent arm binds the mechanism and tears the fabric on the next deployment, which is discovered on location rather than in the yard.

What does mobile command center repair cost?
Slide seal replacement runs $900 to $3,500 per slide. Roof penetration re-bedding across the vehicle is $1,500 to $4,500. Mast mount reinforcement with reseal is $1,500 to $5,500. Electrical diagnosis and repair varies with the finding. Body labor is $210 per hour, electrical $260 per hour, diagnostics $285 per hour.
How long is the unit out of service?
Seal and roof work is four to seven working days. Slide mechanism correction with opening frame work runs one to three weeks. Electrical work depends entirely on what the diagnostic finds. Because these units are single-purpose, we sequence everything into one block rather than bringing you back for a second visit.
The slide closes and latches but we still get water. Why?
Because closing and sealing are two different things. A bulb or wiper seal that has taken a compression set no longer springs back, so the slide can be fully closed and latched with a gap the seal is not filling. Lubricant will not restore a seal that has set. It needs replacement, and the mechanism travel needs checking at the same time.
The unit sits for months between deployments and always has problems. Is that normal?
It is common and it is preventable. Dormancy is harder on these than use. Batteries sulfate, seals harden without flexing, awning fabric takes a set, and small leaks progress unnoticed. An annual body and systems check while the unit is parked catches all of it at maintenance cost rather than at deployment.
Do you service communications equipment?
No. Radio, satellite, and communications equipment service is outside our scope, as is engine, drivetrain, and DOT inspection work. We handle the body, roof and penetrations, slides and seals, mast and antenna mounting structure, generator mounting, electrical and shore power, air conditioning, and interior mounting. Mounting structure for masts, antennas, and racks is fully in scope, and we separate that from equipment service on the estimate.
