Buses and Municipal Fleets Repair

A bus body is engineered around occupant protection, and that changes what an acceptable repair looks like. Roof structure, rollover rails, window pillar sections, and floor-to-sidewall joints are all rated members, so a collision repair that would be routine on a cargo body becomes a structural weld with a defined procedure on a bus. Emergency exits, wheelchair lift doors, and service door openings have to operate exactly as designed after the repair, because a door that binds slightly is a compliance problem rather than an inconvenience. Fleet work also runs on a different clock. A municipal or shuttle operator has a fixed number of units and a route to cover, so the question is never only what the repair costs but how many days the unit is down and whether it can be brought back in stages. We sequence fleet jobs around that, handle multiple units in rotation, and reapply agency livery and reflective markings to spec. Southern California adds coastal corrosion on Long Beach, Oceanside, and San Diego routes, where salt gets into skirt panels and stepwell structure, plus continuous grade duty on the 18 and the 38 that loads suspension and body mounts far harder than flat urban service. All work is performed at our Yorba Linda facility.
