What this work actually involves
An entry door that will not latch is almost never a door problem first. RV doors hang in a lightweight sidewall opening, and when the coach racks, from frame flex, a settled suspension, or an impact, the opening goes out of square and the door stops matching it. We check the opening for square before touching the hinges, because adjusting a door to fit a distorted opening leaves you with a door that latches on the level pad in Yorba Linda and binds again the first time you park on a slope in Big Bear Lake.
The door itself has its own failure set. Most RV entry doors are a laminated sandwich, an aluminum skin bonded to a foam core in a frame, and that bond fails from heat exactly like a sidewall does. A door on the sun-facing side of a coach stored in Palm Desert will delaminate at the lower corner and then oil-can when you close it. The other common finding is the hinge, where fasteners pull out of thin material and the door drops enough to catch the striker.
Screen doors and hardware are where owners lose the most day-to-day patience, and they are inexpensive to correct. Screen frames rack, closers lose their damping, slide latches wear, and the deadbolt keeper gets out of alignment as the door settles. On a coach with a keyless or powered entry system we also verify the actuator, the ground, and the door switch, since a door that reports open to the coach also keeps the entry step deployed and can keep the interior lights on.

Opening squareness check
The rough opening is measured diagonally and for plumb before anything is adjusted. If the opening is out of square, the door is a symptom rather than the cause.

Structural assessment
Where the opening is distorted, we look at the surrounding wall and frame for the reason. A door that walked out of alignment usually points at something structural.

Door condition inspection
The door itself checked for skin delamination, core failure, and frame distortion, since a warped door will not seal correctly no matter how the hinges are set.

Documented findings and options
Repair and replacement priced side by side. On a heat-delaminated door the replacement is often the better value, and we will say so rather than sell a repair twice.

Structural or opening correction
Where the opening is the problem, it gets corrected first, including wall repair and hinge backing installation where fasteners have pulled through thin material.

Door hung, gaps set evenly around the perimeter, weatherstrip replaced, and latch, deadbolt, and striker aligned so the door closes without being forced.
