What this work actually involves
A toilet that will not hold water in the bowl is the most common bath complaint and the cheapest one to address, since it is almost always the flush ball seal hardening and no longer sealing. The more consequential failure is the closet flange seal at the floor. When that goes, waste and water go under the flooring rather than into the tank, and the first sign is a smell and a soft spot rather than a visible leak. Any toilet we pull gets the floor around the flange probed before a new unit goes down.
Shower pans crack, and Southern California heat cycling is a major contributor. An ABS pan in a coach that reaches 130 degrees inside while parked in Indio expands and contracts against a rigid floor until it develops a stress crack, usually at the drain or at a corner. Once the pan is cracked, every shower goes into the subfloor. Replacing a pan usually means removing the surround and often the door frame, so it is worth doing the surround and the valve at the same time rather than opening the same area twice.
Faucets and valves are simpler but they are worth doing right. RV fixtures live with constant vibration and with pump pressure cycling, and cheap plastic bodied fixtures crack at the threads. We fit fixtures that suit the duty, use braided supply lines with strain relief rather than rigid connections, and pressure test the system afterward. On any bath job we also check the floor and wall behind the fixture, because a bathroom is where nearly every water damage repair we do begins.

How we do it, step by step

Fixture and structure assessment
We evaluate the fixture and probe the floor and wall around it. A failing bath fixture has usually been putting water into the structure for a while before anyone notices.

Moisture survey
Floor, wall, and adjacent cabinetry metered so the structural scope is known before we quote, since a fixture swap over a rotten subfloor is only half a repair.

Fit and access planning
Replacement dimensions checked against the existing opening and access path. Shower pans in particular often require surround or door frame removal to get in and out.

Removal and substrate repair
Old fixture removed, flange and drain condition inspected, and any compromised subfloor or wall substrate repaired before the new fixture goes in.

Installation and sealing
New fixture set with a fresh flange seal or pan seal, braided supply lines with strain relief fitted, and every joint sealed to the correct substrate.

Pressure test and function check
System pressurized and held, every fixture run and drained, and the shower pan flood tested at the drain before the coach is released.

How much does RV toilet and shower work cost?

My toilet will not hold water in the bowl. Is that expensive?
Usually not. That symptom is almost always the flush ball seal, which hardens over years and stops sealing against the ball. It is an inexpensive part and a short job on most units. What we do check while we are there is the closet flange seal at the floor, since that is the failure with real consequences.
Why did my shower pan crack?
Heat cycling against a rigid floor. An ABS pan in a coach that reaches well over 120 degrees inside while parked in the low desert expands and contracts repeatedly, and stress concentrates at the drain and at the corners. Once it cracks, every shower drains into the subfloor, which is why we probe the floor before quoting a pan.
Can you just replace the fixture and leave the floor?
We can, but we will document what we found first. Setting a new toilet or a new pan on top of a soft subfloor means the new fixture is sitting on material that will not hold fasteners and will keep deteriorating. We price the fixture and the structural repair separately so you can see both and decide with the facts in hand.
Do you install macerating or composting toilets?
Yes. Macerating toilets suit builds where the tank is not directly below the bath, and composting units are popular in van conversions where black tank capacity is the constraint. Each has different plumbing, venting, and electrical requirements, and we plan those before committing, particularly the vent path on a composting unit.
