The short answer
Air bag suspension repair covers ruptured bags, failed height control valves, leaking air lines, and compressor faults on air ride coaches, trailers, and vans. Work runs $500 to $4,500, or 2 to 18 hours at $260 per hour plus parts, at our Yorba Linda facility.

What this work actually involves
An air suspension leak is rarely where the noise seems to come from. Air travels along the line and exits at the nearest fitting, so an owner hearing hiss at the rear axle is frequently listening to a leak that originated at a height control valve two feet forward. We soap the whole circuit under pressure rather than chasing the sound, because replacing the wrong bag on a system with a leaking valve gives you the same symptom and a parts bill.
The material failure itself is climate driven. Air bag rubber is attacked by ozone and by ultraviolet exposure, and Southern California supplies both generously. A bag on a coach parked uncovered in the Coachella Valley will show sidewall crazing years before the same bag on a covered unit, and once the crazing reaches the cord layer the bag ruptures without warning. On the coast, the corrosion story shifts to the fittings and the steel components: the height control valve linkage seizes, the valve stays commanded in one direction, and the coach rides on the bump stops or on a fully inflated bag.
Getting ride height right afterward matters more than most owners expect. Height control valve adjustment sets the geometry the whole suspension operates in, and a coach set an inch low will drag its rear cap on driveway transitions and load its air bags at the top of their travel over the expansion joints on the 15. We set ride height to the manufacturer specification with the coach at its normal loaded weight, not empty.
Systems and brands we work on: MORryde, Lippert.
Location: All work is performed at our Yorba Linda facility. We do not offer mobile, roadside, or fleet route service.

What the job includes
- Full circuit leak-down testing under pressure rather than by sound
- Air bag and air spring replacement on coaches, trailers, and vans
- Height control valve replacement, linkage repair, and adjustment
- Air line, fitting, and quick-connect replacement
- Compressor, dryer, and air tank inspection and replacement
- Pressure protection valve and check valve service
- Auxiliary air bag kit installation on trailers and van chassis
- Ride height measurement and setting at normal loaded weight
- Corroded bracket and mounting plate repair or fabrication
- Onboard air gauge, control, and switch panel installation
03
When you need this service
- Audible hissing from under the vehicle with the system charged
- One corner sitting noticeably lower after the vehicle has been parked
- The compressor cycling far more often than it used to
- A harsh ride or a sensation of riding on the bump stops
- Visible cracking, crazing, or bulging on an air bag sidewall
- A vehicle that will not raise to ride height or takes several minutes to get there
- Uneven tire wear that appeared after a suspension or ride height change

How we do it, step by step
- 01
System charge and leak-down
System brought to full pressure and isolated, then leak-down measured over time. This tells us whether we are chasing one large leak or several small ones.
- 02
Circuit soap test
Every bag, valve, fitting, and line soaped under pressure. We locate the actual source rather than the loudest point, which are frequently different places.
- 03
Bag and component inspection
Each bag inspected for sidewall crazing, cord exposure, and chafe against a bracket. Ozone and UV damage on uncovered desert units is often present on bags that are not yet leaking.
- 04
Height control and compressor check
Valve linkage worked through travel and compressor output and duty cycle measured, since a compressor running constantly is usually a symptom rather than the fault.
- 05
Documented findings
Findings photographed and priced by part number before anything is ordered, including bags that are not leaking yet but show cord-level damage.
- 06
Repair and replacement
Bags, valves, and lines replaced, corroded brackets repaired or fabricated, and chafe points corrected so the new components do not fail the same way.
- 07
Ride height set and verify
Ride height set to specification at normal loaded weight, system cycled, and a second leak-down run to confirm the circuit holds.

Questions about air bag suspension repair
Frequently asked questions
How much does air bag suspension repair cost?
Work runs $500 to $4,500, or 2 to 18 hours at $260 per hour plus parts. Replacing a single air line and a fitting sits near the low end. Replacing four bags, two height control valves, a compressor, and a dryer on a diesel pusher sits at the high end. Air bags are billed at parts markup, 35 percent over $100.
How long do RV air bags last in Southern California?
Covered storage will get you well past ten years. Uncovered storage in the low desert can cut that in half, because ozone and ultraviolet exposure craze the rubber sidewall long before mileage becomes the limiting factor. Once crazing reaches the cord layer the bag can rupture with no warning, which is why we flag those even when they are not leaking yet.
Why does one corner drop when the coach sits?
A leak somewhere in that circuit, or a height control valve that is exhausting when it should be holding. The distinction matters because they are different repairs. We leak-down the isolated system first, then soap the circuit, so we can tell you whether the bag, a fitting, or the valve is at fault before ordering anything.
Can you add air bags to a trailer or a van?
Yes. Auxiliary air spring kits on trailer axles and on van and truck chassis are a common install here, usually to level a load or reduce sag under a heavy build. We fabricate mounting brackets where the bolt-on kit does not fit the specific frame, and we set ride height at your normal loaded weight rather than empty.
