The short answer
Fleet collision repair returns a damaged commercial truck or van to service after an impact, covering cab sheet metal, box structure, frame correction, and refinish in company colors. Jobs run $1,500 to $50,000 and up, or 10 to 250 plus hours at $210 per hour. In shop body, paint, structural, and equipment install only.

What this work actually involves
Fleet collision damage in the LA basin is rarely a highway event. Most of what comes through our gate happened at a dock, in an alley, under a parking structure clearance bar, or on a tight left turn in a last-mile delivery grid that was laid out before anyone routed a 24-foot box through it. The impact speed is usually under five miles an hour and the consequence is out of all proportion to that, because a rear corner post that takes a dock hit carries the entire side of the body above it.
A commercial unit is not one vehicle. It is a chassis with something else bolted to it, and the two halves fail and source differently. Cab sheet metal is OEM with real parts availability, usually two to five days out of Southern California distribution. The body behind the cab is a separate build with aluminum posts, FRP or aluminum skin, a hardwood floor, and a rear frame that may have been fabricated by a body company that no longer exists. On a ten-year-old dry van, body components frequently mean in-house fabrication, and you hear that from us on day one rather than in week three.
In shop body, paint, structural, and equipment install only. Engine, drivetrain, or DOT inspection work is not performed. If the unit needs mechanical repair before it can return to service, that portion goes to a second vendor and we will say so during intake. All work happens at our Yorba Linda facility. We do not run route service and we do not send technicians to your yard. Insurance-billed jobs may be billed at carrier-negotiated labor rates that differ from our posted retail rates, and we tell you which applies before anything is cut.
Systems and brands we work on: Maxon, Tommy Gate, Anthony, 3M.
Location: All work is performed at our Yorba Linda facility. We do not offer mobile, roadside, or fleet route service.

- Box and body structure repair including corner posts, rear frame, and top rail
- Frame rail correction and certified in-shop welding on chassis and body structure
- Body-to-frame mount, U-bolt, and subframe inspection and replacement

03
When you need this service
- Any dock impact where the rear frame, ICC bumper, or a corner post moved
- A body that no longer sits square on the chassis rails
- Rear doors that latched fine last week and now need a shoulder
- Visible buckling in the top rail or a standing wave in a side panel
- A cab door that seals differently or drops on its hinge after contact
- Body-to-frame U-bolts that have loosened or elongated their holes
- A driver writing the unit up for a noise or a shift you cannot locate
04
How we do it, step by step
- 01
Intake and downtime target
Unit number, VIN, and claim number recorded, damage photographed from every angle, and a working return-to-service date set with your fleet contact before anything is disassembled.
- 02
Teardown and hidden damage discovery
Panels, trim, and interior liner come off so we can see what the load path actually did. Dock impacts hide their real damage two feet above where the paint is scuffed.
- 03
Parts call and fabrication decision
Cab parts sourced against real lead times. Body components that are discontinued get flagged immediately for in-house fabrication so the schedule is honest from the start.
- 04
Structural correction
Frame rails, rear frame, corner posts, and body mounts corrected and welded before any cosmetic panel goes on. A skin hung on a racked body will not stay flat.
- 05
Panel, box, and door work
Cab panels repaired or replaced, body skin and posts rebuilt, and rear doors refit so they latch under their own weight rather than under pressure.
- 06
Refinish and fleet identity
Color matched under multiple light sources and blended into adjacent panels, then unit numbers, USDOT lettering, and conspicuity tape reinstated to spec so the unit returns looking like the rest of your fleet.
- 07
Final fit and release
Every door, latch, and lift gate cycled under load, ADAS scanned and recalibrated where the chassis is equipped, and the unit released with photographs of the completed work for your maintenance file.

On the insurance side
Commercial claims live or die on documentation. We photograph teardown, itemize body components separately from chassis components, and submit supplements directly to your adjuster or your risk department.

Questions about fleet collision repair and refinish
Frequently asked questions
What does fleet collision repair cost?
Jobs run $1,500 to $50,000 and up, or 10 to 250 plus hours at $210 per hour plus parts and materials. A pushed-in fender and a scuffed cab door sits at the low end. A dock impact that moved the rear frame, racked the body, and requires fabricated posts plus a full side refinish sits at the high end. Parts carry 100 percent markup under $100 and 35 percent over $100.
How much downtime should I plan for?
Plan in days out of service, not shop hours. A single cab panel with a blend is typically three to six working days. A body structure repair with parts on order runs two to four weeks. A major hit with frame correction, fabricated components, and a carrier supplement can run six to twelve weeks. We give you a real date after teardown, because a date given before teardown is a guess.
What do you not do on a fleet unit?
In shop body, paint, structural, and equipment install only. Engine, drivetrain, or DOT inspection work is not performed here. We do not do brakes, clutches, transmissions, aftertreatment, or annual federal inspections. If your unit needs those before it goes back on the road, plan a second vendor into the schedule. We will tell you on the first call rather than after your truck is on our lot.
Do you handle multiple units from the same fleet?
Yes, and it works best when they are staged rather than dropped at once. Sending three units simultaneously usually means all three sit. Sending them on a rotation keeps one in the booth while the next is in teardown. Tell us your service board and we will sequence intake around it so you always have the highest number of units running.
Do you work with commercial carriers and self-insured fleets?
Yes. We write the estimate, photograph the teardown, and submit supplements directly to commercial adjusters. Self-insured fleets get the same documentation package for their own risk file. Insurance-billed jobs may be billed at carrier-negotiated labor rates that differ from our posted retail rates, and we identify which applies before work begins.
Do you come to our yard for damaged units?
No. All work is performed at our Yorba Linda facility. We do not run route service and we do not dispatch technicians to fleet yards. Units come to us drivable or on a hook. For fleets in Ontario, Fontana, Riverside, and the 60 corridor, that drive is usually shorter than the wait for a shop that promises otherwise.
