Roof to wall transition seam separation. The joint where the roof sheet turns down over the sidewall is the longest continuous seam on the vehicle and sees the most differential movement of any of them. Trim screws loosen, sealant under the trim hardens and cracks, and water enters at the top of the wall, where it runs the full length of the cavity before it stains anything visible.

Late April to early June. Prepare for heat before it arrives. Read the date code on every tire and replace anything over five or six years no matter how the tread looks. Check and top flooded batteries, then confirm the converter is temperature compensating. Cover or shade the unit if a covered space is not available, and vent the battery compartment.

July and August. This is peak cycling, so do not defer anything that is already moving. Inspect roof vent lids and skylight domes for brittleness by flexing a corner, since these fail during the fall wind rather than during the heat that ruined them. Check that the slide runs square and true, and stop cycling any room that hesitates on one side.

January through March. Check the interior within a day of each storm rather than waiting for spring. Use a moisture meter at the base of every wall, at slide floor edges, and under the dinette, since valley subfloor damage saturates from below while the surface stays dry. A meter reading found in January is a panel. Found in June it is a floor.
