Cost and Pricing Guides

The short answer

Real numbers at posted rates: body and paint at $210 per hour, mechanical and electrical at $260, diagnostics at $285, detail at $95. These guides break down what actually drives the total on collision, roof, paint and delamination work, and why the same damage can produce two very different estimates.

About this category

Price questions about RV repair usually get answered with a range so wide it is useless. The reason the ranges are wide is real, though. On a laminated structure the visible damage is a fraction of the job, and the honest answer before teardown is a range. What is not honest is refusing to explain what moves the number inside that range. So these articles take the total apart. Labor hours at the posted rate for the discipline, paint supplies calculated at $55 per paint hour, body supplies at $5 per body hour, hazmat, parts marked up 100 percent under $100 and 35 percent over, and 7.75 percent sales tax. Then the variables: how far separation has traveled, whether graphics cross the repair, whether the substrate is sound, and whether the carrier is billing at negotiated rates rather than posted retail.

Reading is useful. Getting it looked at is better.
